Mostar is a small city, and almost everything worth seeing sits within a few hundred meters of the Neretva River. That makes it ideal for walking. The old town is compact, the streets are narrow and car-free, and you can cover the Ottoman core in under an hour if you move quickly. But you should not move quickly. The cobblestones on Kujundžiluk street are polished smooth from centuries of foot traffic, the call to prayer echoes off limestone walls, and the turquoise river below pulls your eyes at every turn.
