Cathedral of Saint Blaise

Start at the Cathedral of San Blas, right in the microcentro where the shopping streets are loudest. After all that noise, stepping inside is a hard reset. This is the seat of the Diocese of Ciudad del Este and the city's main church, dedicated to Saint Blaise, who is the patron saint of both the city and Paraguay. Entry is free. It is open daily, with Sunday masses at 07:00, 09:00, 11:00, 16:00, and 19:00, so if you want quiet, avoid those hours. Ten minutes inside is plenty. The point here is contrast: you walk in off a chaotic commercial block and find a calm, working cathedral. To continue, head southwest from the cathedral square into the streets behind the commercial core toward Avenida Adrián Jara, walking away from the heaviest shopping traffic toward the next stop.
